Foreword
Hungary leaves a tough year behind. The debt crisis sweeping through the developed western world thwarted every expectation. The government, analysts and companies had to review their prognoses and plans radically. Things might calm down a bit in 2012, and following crisis management, one can finally start concentrating on the future again. However, it is very unlikely that the turbulences will completely die away.
Thus, it can be seen that partners capable of providing expert professional support in turbulent times will be greatly needed in the future, too. The Hungarian Investment and Trade Agency – HITA was brought into being by the Hungarian government on 1 January 2011 for this purpose exactly. Its aim is to support small and medium-sized Hungarian enterprises that wish to appear in foreign markets as well as foreign corporations that are planning to enter the Hungarian market. The organization stood the test with flying colours: in 2011 despite the unfavourable external conditions HITA managed to attend its basic tasks regarding investment promotion and export development at a very high level. In addition, it took an active part in the development and finalization of the Hungarian foreign economic strategy.
Though in a different segment of the Hungarian economy, RSM DTM Hungary was also able to provide similar professional support to that of the HITA for its partners in 2011. The comprehensive yet profound expertise of the company that operates as the Hungarian member of the global network RSM International and provides professional and advisory services in the fields of taxation, auditing, accounting, payroll calculation and headhunting greatly assisted its clients in adapting to the external conditions, achieving their business objectives whether or not the aim was to support the entry of foreign corporations in the Hungarian market or the other way around, the appearance of Hungarian companies in foreign markets.
The publication called Doing Business in Hungary was compiled after 2011 for the second time in the spirit of these thoughts, values and aims. In compliance with the tradition started last year the joint publication of HITA and RSM DTM Hungary is again a source of information and an investment promotion tool. The clear aim of the publication is to (also) answer questions from a perspective, approach that characterizes individual investment decisions.
Therefore, we hope our Readers will spend their time profitably by reading our publication and it will help them make successful decisions!
